This post offers an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated Advisory Teacher for the Deaf/Hearing Impaired.

We are seeking to appoint a full time, permanent advisory teacher for the deaf/ hearing impaired to join our Sensory Impairment (SENS) service in Ealing. Ealing is a diverse London Borough with a commitment to providing high quality support to families, schools and settings to enable them to include children and young people with a range of hearing impairments.

We are passionate about enabling children who are deaf or who have a hearing loss to achieve their best possible educational and wellbeing outcomes. The service is unusual in being part of ESCAN (Ealing Services for Children with Additional Needs) that includes health therapy services such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology and the Child Development Team, as well as Educational Psychology and the SEN Assessment Service. There is a real opportunity for multiagency working. We have a good relationship with our schools and early years settings. It is possible to use public transport to carry out visits in the Borough. Public transport and mileage costs are paid.
We welcome your application for this post if you are:

• a qualified teacher of the deaf/hearing impaired
• an experienced teacher who is currently undertaking training for the mandatory qualification
• a qualified teacher who is willing to undertake the training for the mandatory qualification

You will need to be:

• flexible and creative with excellent interpersonal skills
• keen to work within a team which believes in a proactive, multi-disciplinary approach to inclusion
• committed to developing inclusive educational practices
A Teaching and Learning Responsibility allowance is being offered to qualified teachers of the deaf/hearing impaired for taking on an area of responsibility within the service.

Experienced qualified teachers willing to undertake the mandatory training will be employed as a teacher with 1 SEN point until qualified. The qualification would be achieved through via distance learning through designated providers and will be funded by Ealing Council.

For further information, please telephone Nicola Wilson on 07738 708968 or email:

Ealing Council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.

We would be happy to receive applications from both full time and part time teachers.
