Closes 18.05.21

The Deaf Academy provides specialist education and care for deaf young people across the United Kingdom. Our students range from 5 to 25 and the majority of them also have additional needs. We operate a broad and enriched curriculum, tailored to student’s individual needs. Each student is supported to achieve their learning potential as part of our bilingual learning environment.

In September 2020, we opened our doors to a brand new state-of-the-art campus, designed around the principals of Deaf space, it puts the Deaf Academy at the cutting edge of deaf education. We’re open and ready to transform the lives of Deaf children and young people.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our transformation. We are looking to recruit talented and energetic teaching professionals to provide our students with the education they deserve.

We are very interested in hearing from those who may already have their Teacher of the Deaf qualification who are perhaps looking to relocate to Devon and work in our state of the art environment. Additionally, we are very keen to hear from qualified Teachers or NQT’s or experienced Tutors who may be looking to specialise within the exciting and highly rewarding area that is Deaf Education.

The Academy offers a highly competitive benefits package, which includes sponsorship to achieve the Teacher of the Deaf qualification.

The post holder will focus on teaching BSL to our students but the ability to teach a second subject will be required. This role would suit someone who has British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications at Level 6 or they are a native BSL user.

The post holder will take the lead for developing, evaluating and continuously improving provision in BSL to ensure that each young person’s potential is maximised.

If this is you and you’re inspired by these exciting opportunities then please get in touch!

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults; as such an enhanced DBS check is required.

The Academy is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion for all its students and staff.
