Frank Barnes is an innovative and exciting bilingual school for profoundly deaf children with a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in Deaf education and has been given ‘Outstanding’ status by Ofsted for the fourth consecutive inspection. We are a friendly, supportive Camden Local Authority school, a short walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras International Station in the new Kings Cross development, with good rail links across London and beyond. • BSL and English are taught to a high standard enabling our children to become fluent in both languages

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated class teacher to join our innovative and exciting bilingual school starting as early as possible in the Summer Term.

We would welcome applications from teachers with mainstream experience and qualified Teachers of the Deaf or Newly Qualified Teachers who have the following:
• Excellent teaching & class management skills
• Positive view of deaf children
• Good sign language skills (minimum BSL Level 3)
• Experience of curriculum management
• Secure knowledge of safeguarding procedures

We are committed to developing our sign bilingual practice and have high expectations of both pupils and staff. We employ deaf and hearing people in partnership to raise the achievement and outcomes of Deaf children.

We are committed to safeguarding children and any appointment is subject to satisfactory checks and references. The position will require an Enhanced DBS check including barred list check. The post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended in 2013 & 2020). This means that applicants are not required to disclose details of any youth cautions or ‘protected’ criminal convictions, adult cautions or bind-overs they may have incurred.

• Whole school staff development and training

Successful applicants who are not qualified ToDs will be required to undergo ToD training for the mandatory qualification, which will be supported and funded by the school.
