Part-time Teacher of the Deaf or Trainee (Job Share)

Moss Bury is home to one of only two specialist Units in Hertfordshire with provision for deaf children. We are an auditory oral based unit working with primary aged children from Reception up to Year 6. We currently have 6 children with hearing impairment in our unit. We have the full time equivalent Teacher of the Deaf and 3 support staff, which include a specialist Teaching Assistant, who provide an integrated approach to working with children who have hearing impairment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic permanent part-time Teacher of the Deaf or a Teacher who would like to specialise in provision for deaf children to join our friendly team and well behaved children; someone who can inspire our children to reach their full potential. This position is a job-share and the hours are negotiable.

The candidate will either have the mandatory Teacher of the Deaf qualification or would like to work towards this qualification – the school will cover the cost of training for the right candidate.

Applicants should be interested or experienced in working within a fully integrated approach involving a range of specialist staff. The successful candidate will receive support and continued professional development opportunities.

This position will be paid on Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (£27,600 to £41,604) + 1 SEN point (pro rata and depending on experience).

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
