Are you a qualified and experienced Teacher of the Deaf? Do you like the idea of peripatetic working across the age-range with a supportive Team?   This could be the job for you!

We are looking to recruit an excellent, skilled practitioner who has qualifications in teaching deaf children. The post covers working with young people with deafness 0-25 years, their educational settings and families.

We are the Hearing Support Team, which is part of the Advisory Support Service and operates as a team across the Borough of Swindon. We have a successful record of inclusion of children and young people with deafness within Swindon schools but also provide outreach support to those in specialist provisions.

This is a peripatetic teaching role with the office base at Dorcan Academy in Swindon. The successful applicant will visit children and young people with deafness at home (pre-school),  and in educational settings within Swindon Borough. If you are passionate about improving the outcomes of young people with deafness, we would love to hear from you.

For this position, applicants will hold the mandatory qualification of Teacher of the Deaf.

The post is subject to Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Mainscale/UPS as appropriate + 2 SEN point for teachers. There may be Management opportunities for the right candidate going forward.

A driver’s licence is preferable, however the ability to travel throughout the Borough is essential.

Applicants must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
