Regional Tutor – MA Deaf Education (Leeds University)
The School of Education is seeking to appoint a part time fixed term, hourly paid regional tutor for the MA Deaf Education Programme from 1 September 2021 to 30 September 2022.
The purpose of this role is to provide regional support for distance education students on the MA Deaf Education (Teacher of the Deaf) course. Leeds University (The School of Education) is an approved provider of this mandatory qualification which delivers specified competencies required by the DfE. The regional tutors work alongside the programme team providing a support and supervisory role in the field to ensure that these competencies are achieved across the geographic spread of the programme. All students on this MA programme are assigned to a tutor in their region who will be a qualified and experienced Teacher of the Deaf with a senior management role in their school, service or programme.
This will involve:
• Wednesday 15th September 2021 – Induction Day, Leeds (1day)
Thursday March 3rd 2022 – University meeting, Leeds (1day)
• Regional Tutorial for
o Module 5072 Learning and Teaching in Deaf Education (1 day November 2021)
o Module 5078 Policy and Practice in Deaf Education (1 day end March or April 2022)
o (Each comprising ½ day planning and ½ day delivering the tutorial )
• Placement supervision: Teaching placement supervision visits and reports for students i.e. 2 visits over the 4-week placement and a report writing, 3 days per student. (Number of students to be agreed likely to be 2/3 a year)
• Placement preparation visit: 1 day per first year student.
The hours of the role is dependent on the number of student supervisions which will vary each year dependant on recruitment to the programme.
