The Sensory and Communication Support Team needs an experienced Teacher of the Deaf, with insight and knowledge of how to support deaf children and young people and lead a team with a commitment to quality improvement. This is a peripatetic post.

You will need to work closely with families of pre-school children in their homes; work within nurseries and a variety of educational setting.

You will be a qualified and experienced Teacher of the Deaf and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of excellent teaching & learning practice including supporting a range of learning styles, experience of working with pupils with cochlear implants as well as hearing aid wearers.

You will be required to work with support staff, pupils, parents and the wider community to ensure that deaf children and young people have full access to the curriculum and consistently make good progress.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience in using audiological equipment in the monitoring of all hearing instruments including portable hearing aid analyzer and carrying out speech discrimination testing and monitoring.

Sign language skills and a good demonstrate of the national curriculum as well as team working and good ICT skills are essential.
