This is an exciting opportunity to lead, manage and continue to develop the Cornwall Sensory Support Service!

Children and young people with sensory impairment from 0-25 with sensory impairment (hearing, vision and multi-sensory impairment) are at the centre of all of our practice. We enjoy fantastic working relationships with families, schools and education settings and other professional colleagues. We are a peripatetic team and work in a wide range of specialist and mainstream settings across the county.

Our enthusiastic team comprises: fourteen Teachers of the Deaf (three are in training); six Teachers of the Visually Impaired (two are in training); three Teaching Assistants. In addition, one member of the team has the MSI qualification. A Highly Specialised Speech and Language Therapist also works very closely with learners with hearing impairment and two Habilitation Specialists work with those with vision impairment.

You will be a passionate advocate for children and young people with sensory impairment and have the vision to develop the well-established team further. Holding a Mandatory Qualification in sensory impairment (hearing, vision or multi-sensory), you will have experience of leadership and management, be innovative and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude in all aspects of your work.

Salary range: Solbury Educational 12-14 (up to 3 SPA)

Whilst the location/work-base for this role has been specified, the current Government guidance around social distancing and our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations).
