The service is placed within a large group of specialists including peripatetic teachers for Dyslexia, Autism, and Vision and Multi-Sensory Impairment.

Role Responsibilities:

• To carry out the professional duties of a teacher as defined in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document.
• To deliver specialist support to CYP and their families within a range of environments including their home, in school and at specialist medical appointments, placing parents and young people as equal partners in the planning and development of delivery.
• To support the Local Authority in making full provision to meet the needs of CYP with a hearing impairment in Hammersmith and Fulham.
• To manage an active caseload advising and supporting teachers and schools with programmes of work as well as teaching and learning strategies for CYP with a hearing impairment between the ages of 0-25 years.
• To ensure aspirational target setting for CYP ensures high outcomes for learners with a hearing impairment.
• To have an understanding of specialist equipment that supports curricular access and to work collaboratively with the team to ensure that all CYP have an individualised programme that is supported where necessary with specialist resources.
• To support, through planning and direct teaching, pupils moving into and out of designated provision for pupils with hearing impairment within the Borough and in neighbouring Authorities.
• To monitor and support the transition of CYP with a hearing impairment into post 16 education and up to 25 years old.
• To keep thorough and precise records of all activities and to ensure accurate data management informs targeted professional delivery to Nationally accredited standards.
• To work in partnership with teachers, other professionals and with parents for the benefit of CYP and to record their view of service delivery annually.

Role Specific Qualifications:
• Qualified Teacher Status
• Additional QTOD status or nearing completion of training
