Specialist Teacher of the Deaf
West of England Hearing Implant Programme
PART TIME – 22.5 hours per week
The West of England Hearing Implant Programme is looking for an enthusiastic qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join the paediatric team. The post holder will be part of a team of teachers providing a specialist clinical service, working with babies, children and teenagers being assessed for cochlear implants, and their subsequent care, post implantation. This post will involve assessment, review and follow up support for these patients.
The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of Surgeons, Audiologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers of the Deaf, Psychologists and Administrative staff. The post holder will be based at St Michael’s Hospital, Bristol, supporting patients in their community across the South West.
We are looking for a person with empathy and excellent communication, record keeping and organisational skills. The successful applicant will demonstrate good team working skills and an ability to work independently to support our patients and local professionals in a flexible, sensitive and supportive manner.
