Teacher of Deaf Children for KS3/4
with additional responsibility for quality assurance of KS4 assessment
Salary Range: MPS/UPS fringe allowance, TLR 2a and SEN points dependant on qualifications and experience
Heathlands is an outstanding local authority special school for deaf children aged 3-16. Due to expansion of our secondary department we are seeking to appoint a teacher able to take on additional responsibility for the internal quality assurance of assessment for all KS4 subjects, in line with mandatory practice of awarding bodies.
The successful candidate must be able to offer a subject specialism up to GCSE level in English, Maths , Science, Humanities or ICT. The ability to offer a second subject is desirable.
Teachers who have experience and/or qualification to teach deaf children are invited to apply. Knowledge of British Sign Language or a commitment to work towards minimum BSL3 is essential.
In addition the successful candidate will have
• Good knowledge of the KS4 curriculum and approved qualifications
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Confident use of ICT
• Up to date knowledge of internal and external verification procedures.
• Experience of planning and delivering training for others.
