The BATOD Steering Group has issued the following statement on vaccinations:
BATOD is the sole professional association for Teachers of the Deaf in the UK. Teachers of the Deaf work in a range of settings including special and mainstream schools, nurseries and homes – sometimes visiting vulnerable deaf children in several settings in one day requiring close contact to provide essential audiological and other support.
It is essential that all Teachers of the Deaf should be prioritised for vaccination just as their colleagues in health and social care have been. This is already happening in some Local Authorities but not all. This policy should be consistently applied across the country.
