6 years in total: elected for 2 years as President Elect, 2 years as President and 2 years as Past President.
Entitled to remain on National Executive Council (NEC) for a further two years ex-officio (optional)
Notice period – to allow the Association time to appoint a replacement, six months notice is required |
| Time Commitment
|
Attendance at meetings in person or virtual:
- Steering group x 4 per year
- Others by agreement with Steering Group members with regard to Association Business including shadowing President.
- Regular meetings with President and NEO
- Regular and timely response to association related emails
Time commitment varies (depending on time of year) but usually requires weekly commitment of no more than an hour a week. |
| Main purposes of role
|
The Honorary President Elect shall be responsible for
- shadowing the role of President,
- deputising for the President if necessary
- liaising with members of SG, NEC and with the NEO
In order to fully understand the requirements of the role of President and the way in which BATOD operates, in line with the Constitution and its aims.

| Key tasks
|
- Liaise with the National Executive Officer and other Steering Group members
- Where possible, the President Elect will attend at least one meeting in each Region/Nation, during their term of office as President Elect and President, as agreed with the President (virtually where appropriate)
- Deputise for the President when necessary

Please note that as this is an elected post the holder is a fully participant member of the Steering Group and NEC. |

|
- The President Elect feels confident and enable to take on the role of President
- The work of the President, Steering Group and NEC are supported by the President Elect to achieve the aims and priorities of the Association.
- Any actions or requests are dealt with in a timely manner and reported back to Steering Group, NEO or President as relevant.

- All work is done in collaboration with other Steering Group and NEC members.
- Major items are discussed and confirmed with other Steering Group members and ratified by the NEC.

|
Normal BATOD expenses payable for SG/NEC attendance and agreed associated expenses.

| Recommended Knowledge and Experience |
- QToD with significant practical experience in deaf education
- Understanding of current issues and challenges in deaf education and for professionals linked to deaf education
- Secure understanding of the way BATOD works and the roles and responsibilities within BATOD
