The Department for Education have launched a consultation about updating the statutory guidance for local authorities on home to school travel and transport. The consultation runs from now until 31 October.

School transport generally is of importance to pupils with SEND. In addition, specific issues touched on in the guidance and the consultation document include:
- Travel training
- Behaviour during travel
- Support for pupils with medical conditions
