E-PID – Early Parent Interaction in Deafness survey- QToD views requested

Posted in News

My name is Martina Curtin and I am currently funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) to create a new tool for parents and professionals: the E-PID – Early Parent Interaction in Deafness.
We look want to know how Speech and Language Therapists, Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and Clinical Psychologists assess parent-child interaction, with particular focus on how you observe parents’ interactions when they communicate with their deaf children aged 0-3. We’re interested in all formal and informal methods. There are no right and wrong answers, but we want to know which parent behaviours and practices are important to you. We’ve tried to make it as quick to fill out as possible, with text boxes kept to an absolute minimum. All responses are anonymous.
Please watch our 1m20s video below and fill in our survey here: https://bit.ly/3ekrzBw
At the end of the survey, you can click on a separate link (to ensure anonymity) and leave your details to register your interest in receiving the results and/or in participating in a focus group.
Please circulate this with your wider networks and if you’d like to, let me know how you found it! We trialled it before the launch and were told professionals enjoyed the chance to think and reflect. Perhaps, with it being #DeafAwarenessWeek, you’d like to take time to do the same!

*Please note – you do not need to have deaf children aged 0-3 on your current caseload, but some previous experience is essential for reflection.
