“Results can be trusted to open doors to opportunities,” says Ofqual Chief Regulator Ofqual Chief Regulator Sir Ian Bauckham has said today’s A Level, vocational and technical results can be trusted to open doors to skilled employment, apprenticeships and university.
As 320,505 students opened their A Level results and a further 221,000 level 3 vocational and technical qualification were issued this morning, Sir Ian highlighted the wide range of
opportunities available for study, training and employment. Sir Ian said: “These qualifications open doors for students because they are so widely recognised and trusted.”
“A Levels are trusted because they are awarded to rigorous and consistent national standards. Universities, employers, and students can have confidence that an A Level grade represents what students know and can do.”
“Vocational and technical qualifications are equally important. They help students develop the knowledge and skills needed for apprenticeships, employment, and further study.
“When an employer or university sees these qualifications, they can be confident they demonstrate students’ genuine achievement.”
V Levels, a new post-16 vocational qualification announced last October by the government, are in the process of being developed and will come to replace a range of different vocational courses.
From 2027 students will be able to choose between A Levels, V Levels and T Levels, offering distinct but flexible pathways into higher education, training and employment.
Sir Ian added: “Ofqual will ensure these new qualifications are held to the same consistent and rigorous national standards as those awarded today, bringing greater clarity and parity
across vocational education.”
