Deaf@x seminar - visual literacy

Article from the January 2008 Association Magazine describing how the first Deaf@x seminar, lead by Prue Goodwin, considered what is meant by 'reading' (in education) and then how the skill is developed. Delegates were asked to follow up by exploring how supportive a visual text can be in enabling deaf children to make meaning from a text. The workshop at Boston Spa, led by members of the Wakefield Service, will share experiences and thoughts on this.
