Anxiety in the classroom

online
Scottish Sensory Centre
21st January 2021
2:30pm - 4:00pm

In this session, Place2Be will offer teachers the opportunity to increase their knowledge on the ways in which anxiety can impact learning and day-to-day functioning. We will explore childhood disorders focusing on anxiety particularly in the light of COVID-19 pandemic.

Teachers will be asked to consider what is meant by anxiety, to challenge their own beliefs and assumptions surrounding anxiety, and recognise and understand the emotions and feelings within themselves which help in the identification of early warning signs of anxiety.Teachers will be given the chance to reflect on anxiety they may be holding from their work with pupils with visual or hearing impairment.

Key outcomes for this session: teachers will feel more confident supporting individuals and their ability to access learning; to develop a compassionate approach to anxiety, consider the importance of regulating our own emotions when dealing with anxiety and developing helpful strategies for managing our own anxiety.
