Postponed ICED 2020 Congress update

5th July 2021 - 8th July 2021
8:00am - 5:00pm
Since postponing ICED 2020 to July 2021, the Organising Committee and Arinex our Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) have been monitoring the developments of COVID-19 and considering alternative approaches to the delivery of ICED in 2021.

As international travel to Australia has not resumed, timelines for lifting travel bans are uncertain and difficulties travelling within Australia remain, we are now planning to deliver ICED 2021 in a fully virtual format. The dates of the Congress remain unchanged from 5-8 July 2021 and the program planned for 2020 will be amended to suit the virtual format. This includes access to every session for all who register.

Although ICED delegates cannot experience Queensland, the ‘Sunshine State’, we are delighted to be able to welcome even more people from around the world to participate equally and at reduced cost.

We are committed to ensuring that ICED maintains its reputation as a prestigious meeting that is highly regarded by the international community of educators of deaf and hard of hearing children.

We remain committed to providing access for all participants through captioning and interpreting all presentations in International Sign and Auslan.

We hope this information will provide you the certainty to proceed with planning your involvement with ICED 2021.  We will continue to provide updates through email and on the website as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding and support in these challenging times, and we look forward to you joining us for ICED online in July 2021.

REGISTRATION
Registrations received in 2020 are still valid for the 2021 Virtual Congress. The website (https://iced2021.com.au/) will be updated with new reduced ‘Virtual Registration Rates’ in the coming weeks and be open for new registrations.

You may choose to receive a refund of the difference or donate this amount to our scholarship fund to allow others to attend the virtual event.

In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as we roll out these new options.

ACCOMMODATION
If you booked your accommodation through the Congress Managers as part of your registration process you will receive a full refund of any amounts paid to date.

FOR PRESENTERS
We will be providing further detailed information on how to record your presentation to be included in the program. We aim to provide a fully accessible Congress, and respectfully request your assistance in meeting deadlines (which will be provided shortly) to allow us adequate time to organise interpreting and captioning.

If you have an accepted presentation as part of the program, we ask that you register for ICED no later than Wednesday 31 March 2021. If you are not registered by this date, your position in the program is not assured.

The conference platform we have chosen for ICED is called OnAir. It has been successfully used for a range of international meetings and events and is specifically designed to be highly intuitive and to provide attendees with various means to view presentations, interact with sponsors and exhibitors, view poster presentations, and network with each other.

OnAir are working with us to include the capacity for interpreting and captions in the platform.

Over the next few weeks and months we will release further information relating to the platform providing sneak peeks, so by the time of the Congress, delegates can feel confident with the platforms capabilities.
