AI is impacting and will continue to impact the lives of the British public. A glossary of 100 new BSL signs for AI has been created by the Scottish Sensory Centre’s BSL Glossary team, supported by the Royal Society and involving Deaf experts in AI and computer science to make science more accessible for the D/deaf community. With AI technologies developing at a faster rate than ever before, it is important everyone has access to relevant language that enables them to actively engage in the subject and play a greater role in shaping how AI technologies serve them.
This webinar will be led by Dr Audrey Cameron OBE Hon FRSC, Chancellor’s Fellow and BSL Glossary Project Coordinator at the University of Edinburgh and members of the team. The session will be conducted in British Sign Language and English, aims to introduce the AI BSL glossary and equip teachers, teachers of D/deaf children, support staff and school leaders with practical ways to use it to support deaf learners’ understanding of AI and digital technology in the curriculum.
