“The Northern Trust, together with a number of partners, are inviting parents and carers of children and young people who are deaf/hard of hearing to attend an information event next month (Saturday 28 March).
The information event is designed to provide support, advice, and opportunities for families to connect with local services.
The event will bring together a wide range of voluntary and statutory organisations that support deaf and hard of hearing children and their families.
Families will be able to speak directly with professionals from Ear Nose Throat (ENT), Audiology, Speech and Language Therapy, Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Health Visiting, as well voluntary and charitable agencies, namely, National Deaf Children’s Society, British Deaf Association and Action Deaf Youth.
Representatives from the Education Authority’s Sensory Service and Department for Communities will also be on hand to provide advice and signposting.
The session is open to babies, children of all ages, and young people up to school-leaving age, along with their parents and carers. While parents and carers access information and advice, there will be play opportunities and activities available for children, making the event welcoming and inclusive for the whole family.
This event aims to help families feel informed, supported, and connected, whether they are at the very beginning of their journey or preparing for transitions into education or adulthood.
We encourage parents, carers, and families to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about local hearing services and meet others with shared experiences.
