Resource review lead
Role description
Tenure – Two years with possibility of extension
Time commitment – A minimum of two hours per quarterly edition
Main purposes of role
- Oversee the BATOD resource review process
- Curating, managing, and coordinating the review process for resources linked to deaf education
- Collaborate with authors, reviewers, the Magazine Editor, and the Commissioning Editor to select relevant resources for review, while maintaining the Magazine’s reputation
- With the Magazine Editor, maintain and regularly review an information sheet about writing a BATOD review
Key tasks
- Identify suitable reviewers, send items to reviewer, and agree timescales for submission
- Maintain an up-to-date list of BATOD member reviewers with appropriate details
- Engage with resource creators/publishers and seek proofing copy
Maintain a database of reviewers, materials, and publication details.
- Collect reviews from reviewers
- Send information from the publisher to the Magazine Editor regarding copies of printed reviews required etc, and r related images to the Magazine Editor
- Send note to the reviewer thanking them. Send the resource review author details to the Magazine Editor for a formal letter of thanks and e-copy of the review.
- Attend the annual meetings with Magazine Editor and other members of the Team behind the Magazine
Key outcomes
· The Magazine contains unbiased reviews of up-to-date resources linked to deaf education, supporting the social emotional needs of deaf children and young people, and the CPD needs of deaf education professionals
· The Magazine retains its place as a flagship publication for 1300 readers
· The professional knowledge and experience of the post holder is extended

The reviews resource lead can retain any of the products they review (as do all other reviewers).
Reporting to – BATOD Magazine Editor
Skill requirements –
· BATOD member
· Qualified Teacher Status and QToD
· Strong professional links across a range of networks
· Understanding of the breadth of BATOD’s work
· Excellent organisational skills, writing ability, and communication skills
· Experience of managing volunteers
· Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and liaise with a range of authors/resource creators, publishers
