Gritty Talent looking for new communicators

Posted in News

Members might be interested in this request from Sophie Wells from Gritty Talent:

My name is Sophie and I’m a producer at Gritty Talent, a new type of media company founded by two ex-BBC production staff.

The UK television industry (like many industries) is actively trying to diversify its on and off-screen voices, to become more inclusive and representative of the whole of the UK, and to portray the UK’s diverse groups and communities more accurately and authentically.

However, with budgets being squeezed and Covid regulations impacting on the sector, we’ve found that production teams rarely have the time to dedicate to finding and nurturing the next generation of presenters, commentators and contributors.

So, we are currently doing the groundwork of looking for new communicators to be featured on a new app launching this spring, which will serve as a resource to connect new voices with factual TV programme makers. We’ll also be offering some free online media training to prepare those who are interested for prospective opportunities.

We are looking for a broad mix of people; from academics for interviews and documentaries, to budding reporters, or a potential expert presenters. We are particularly looking for those whose voices are currently underrepresented in the media or in their particular field.

We are taking expressions of interest through an application form on our website here: www.grittytalent.tv/apply
