Recruitment request – Research Study on QToDs’ Experiences Supporting Children with APD

Posted in News

“Are you a UK Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QToD) with at least 1 year’s experience supporting children diagnosed with APD?
If so, I would greatly appreciate speaking to you about your experiences for my research study, which is part of my Audiology MSc in Clinical Science (Neurosensory Sciences) at Aston University.
I am exploring UK QToDs’ experiences of supporting school-aged children diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). Specifically, I want to understand:
  • How QToDs perceive and view APD
  • The barriers and facilitators they encounter in their work
  • The types of support they provide to these children, and how they feel about delivering that support
By listening to your experiences, this study aims to help shape future recommendations for enhanced multi-disciplinary collaboration between audiologists and QToDs in supporting children diagnosed with APD.
Please note: this study is purely exploratory and does not assess your work or practice in any way.
The research will be conducted via a 45–60-minute online MS Teams interview, arranged at a time that suits you.
If you are interested in contributing to this research project, please contact Tapiwa Carrie Spiwe Mufutumari at [email protected].
Ethical approval for this study has been granted by Aston University Ethics Panel. Ethics number is AUD/25/020.”
