Information from Music Space.
“This year, our free creative sessions are back, and we’re excited to share that as part of the programme we have the amazing Ali Robertson joining Glasgow’s young folk to share how music can be experienced beyond the ears.
Date: 1 March
Time: 14:00 – 17:00
Venue: Music Broth
4 level, Skypark, 0 Elliot Square, Glasgow
Ali Robertson is an award-winning improvising musician, who has been a staple in the experimental music scene for over 25 years. By combining his experience as a Neurodiverse, partially deaf, and untrained musician with new approaches to tactile sound, we will aim to create music together that is accessible, engaging, and meaningful across diverse abilities.
This workshop is designed for young people in Scotland, aged 16 – 25, or folk aged up to 30 if they are:
> Disabled, including those with a long-term illness, neurodiverse people and anyone else who would identify with the social model of disability.
> Care experienced, and/or have been a young carer (including those with children or those who have cared for/are caring for someone with a long-term illness or disability).
Please know Music Broth is an accessible venue, there will be closed captions, BSL can be provided if required, and all travel costs will be provided by Music Space.
As members of Scotland’s d/Deaf community, we’d like to share this session with you in hopes of spreading the word – we’d be very grateful if you could share this amongst your networks, and any young folk you think may be interested. Of course, if there’s any support we can provide in return, please let us know.”
